Kansas hosted the Eastern Playoffs while Cal State Long Beach hosted a simultaneous Western Playoffs

• University Central Florida beat Kansas in a closer match 33-20 in a game where UCF had a slim 12-10 halftime lead.
On Sunday 4-8-18 the above winners play at 1:00 and losers play at 11:00.

Meanwhile @ Cal State Long Beach on 4-7-18:
• Cal State Long Beach beat Chico State 36-28
• University Nevada-Reno rallied from a 19 point deficit to beat Western Washington University
On Sunday 4-8-18 the above winners play winners and losers play losers.

The above Eastern and Western playoff winners are the “finalists” and meet for a single game 4-21-18 at East Carolina University (Greenville, NC) to determine the Spring National Champion.

D1AA College Rugby includes teams that do not play a split fall-spring season like Kansas. Those single-season teams already had a Fall National Championship that was won a few months ago by University of Mary Washington (located just south of Washington D.C.).

This year, USA Rugby will have the Fall National Champion play the TBD Spring National Champion on May 5. - The original planned site of that match had been Cal State Fullerton, but expect a change of venue if either Dartmouth or UCF beat the west coast Spring finalist, because Mary Washington and a TBD east coast team will prickle at the expense and complication of a California match site.

If you are reading this post on the morning of Sunday April 8, please come out to Westwick to see the two matches today. One will be for semifinal for the SPRING NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP and the other will be a "BORDER WAR" match that needs no more hype than that. - This will be some great rugby!
