Kansas Rugby would like to start giving thanks to our departing seniors, starting with Darius Harris AKA Hootie (shoutout Darius Rucker). Darius joined the Jayhawks for the last year of his Master of Social Work program after transferring from Kansas State. Upon arriving in Lawrence for preseason camp last August, it was immediately evident how good of a person he is, which fits right in with any rugby team. After losing senior Chandler Owens in a crucial Fly Half position last year, Darius stepped in to help fill the void at 10. His experience, skill and the grit/toughness of a forward all helped him flourish during his year in the Crimson & Blue. First and foremost, we will miss his personality around the organization, but we will also miss his style of play as well. Post-graduation plans consist of pursuing clinical licensure and applying for Ph.D programs. While he is in Kansas, he would like to continue playing rugby in KC. Cheers to a great rugby player and even better human being. We have zero doubt the positive impact he will have on this world! Thank you, Hootie.
