The organization is excited to start the week with the announcement of our new Head Coach, Seth Akpovona! If you have been around the area’s rugby scene the last decade you likely know Seth, first as a great human being and second as a great rugby player. He has been a friend of the club for years. Although this comes days after announcing the departure of our current skipper, this has been an ongoing process the last 6 months or so. Upon finding out about The Stewart family move, Seth was one of the first names to come up. He lives in Topeka but currently plays for Wichita and because of this, the last couple of years he has been joining us in Lawrence for practices during the week to avoid the lengthy drive to Wichita. Our guys have grown quite fondly of him because of this, which subsequently started building our relationship. During this process we started giving Seth more and more slack on his control over coaching duties. He hit the ground running and because our guys liked him so much and he did so well with them, we knew he was a serious candidate. Seth has been around the game competitively for over a decade, including winning a National Championship with Wichita. He knows what it takes to win on and off the field as a rugby team and organization and we look forward to this next chapter of Kansas Rugby with him. (Officially) Welcome to the family, Seth!
