Trace Eslinger is Lawrence-bound! Help us officially welcome @trace_eslinger from Louisburg, Kansas! Trace began his rugby journey with Heartland Youth Rugby and has been playing for 7 years now thanks to his dad, Dean, who has been a longtime member of Kansas City Rugby Football Club . He also wrestled and played football at Louisburg High School. Trace suited up for Gorilla Rugby during his high school footy career, where he was awarded man of the match multiple times and ended his senior campaign as the club’s Most Valuable Player. This summer he played 7’s with the Blue’s Academy in Kansas City alongside fellow incoming freshman Conor Sexton, and joined our summer touch sessions In between. We found out Trace would likely be a Jayhawk just before we hosted the high school championships in May and since then we’ve really enjoyed the opportunities we’ve had to watch him play and get to know him and his parents. Trace is everything you could ask for at the flank position. He’s tough as nails, has an unbelievable motor, makes plays on both sides of the ball and has a high rugby IQ. But what has stood out the most getting to know him is that he is an incredible person and teammate. When he’s not playing rugby he likes to draw, write and work out. He’s currently undecided on a major but plans to study Architecture. Welcome to the family, Trace!
