Unfortunately, it's time to say good bye to senior Jack Dienst. Jack was a four year starter at KU, captain of the team his junior year and also played with "The Love Squad" as a three time Heart of America All-Star team member in Aspen, Colorado. As much as he has accomplished on the field, it's what Jack did off of the field that was equally as impressive. He's held multiple positions on the executive board including equipment manager and treasurer. He's been both a consultant and student liaison to The Kansas Rugby Foundation and he's been instrumental in re-writing our clubs constitution. He is a Red Jacket Society member and has also been awarded the coveted Kernow Cup. Jack is the type of guy that not only says what he does, but more importantly, does what he says. He's an extremely hard worker and will be taking that skill set and putting his Architecture Degree to work for HOK, a global design, architecture, engineering and planning firm in Kansas City. We asked Jack some questions about his time with KJRFC and here are his responses.
What did you like about the rugby club?
"The rugby club was my family while I was at college. I've made lifelong friends here."
What is your fondest memory at KJRFC?
"My favorite memory was winning the Kernow Cup."
What would you tell incoming players about the rugby club?
"A piece of advice for rookies would be indulge in the extracurricular activities of the club. There is a reason this is a rugby club and not a rugby team."
Are you planning on playing rugby after college?
"I will not be playing rugby immediately after school."
So you are saying there is a chance? If so, you know where we will be at on Tuesdays,Thursdays, and Saturdays Jack!
Thanks for your commitment to the club and best to you in what the future holds.
