We are happy to finally announce a Director of Rugby Operations position has been created and Marcus Williamson has been officially hired for this role. We are also happy to announce that he and his wife, Kensley, just recently welcomed their new baby boy to the world! Those of you who have been around the last two years likely already know who Marcus and Kensley are. The Kansas native returned to KU to get his PhD. where he met Kensley (coincidentally, she is the niece of Jayhawk Rugby old boy Herb Llewellyn). He started playing rugby with the Olathe Gents in the 90’s and the game followed him around during college. After some time settling down, he came out as we were ramping up our Fall ‘21 campaign and told us he is ready to help literally wherever we needed it and he quickly became a tremendous asset. Since then, he’s helped as an assistant/forwards coach, as well as coaching the club side. He established our YouTube channel and got our live streaming capabilities started. He’s helped step our game up with various forms of media including podcast, printed gameday sheets, quality produced replays of our games and overall just adding a professional touch to everything we do. He helped us establish a concessions stand at our home games. The list of things he’s done and helped us accomplish are impressive to say the least, especially only being here for two years. Not only has he been a massive help, but his wife deserves praise for her efforts with stuff like game film, running the concession stand and generally being a supportive and loyal wife and member of the organization. We can’t thank them enough for everything they’ve already done and will continue to do in the future. Marcus is a great ambassador of the club where his impressive educational achievements, personal roots to the area and love for the game will help him succeed in this position.
